The History of Tractors Part One

Steam powered tractor

Gazing at the expanse of fields, the American farmers hope to develop some direct traction equipment, they invented the three wheels of farm machinery, that is a machine with two big wheel at behind and a big boilers, and a small front wheel for direction control. In 1829, the CASE company succeeded in the trial of this type of tractors, just within 3 years, all the great American West started using this farm machine.

Steam powered cultivator

In 1860, British Lieutenant Halkett developed a steam-powered cultivator. It has two pairs of orbital distance of 18 meters, were located on both sides of the tractor. And the cultivator just hung suspended between the bridge across the track, this device has two steam engines, which were installed in each of the track. And good thing is all other farm machinery can be installed in such a cultivator, it can be used for cultivated land, harrow, Shall, sowing and harvesting, but also vegetables and water. Although Halkett the inventor is more ambitious than others, such machine is so costly, so he did not achieve the expected success in the end.

Berg tractor

People have been trying to install diesel engines in the steam engine chassis. In 1889, Berg is first American to achieve this aspiration. He invented the steam engine chassis which is very similar with normal tractor chassis, and finished the first successful trial by Charter Gas Machinery Company. In 1892, Iowa John M ยท Frolich in Cincinnati built a farm tractor as the internal combustion engine for the Fan Duzi gas and petrol machinery company, this is the first truly practical internal combustion tractor which is also the predecessor of John Deere tractor.

Avril tractor

In 1901, the Americans invented the three tractor. But the front wheels are too light, it often overturned due to overload. Although it has such shortcomings, it still achieved some success. In 1904, the United States Shapusipa Teng Otto mowers and tractors produced a mini tractor, this tractor also equipped with cutting arm, used to mow.

Hart and the Pan-type tractor

Just like the Germans Froehlich, the American Hart and Pan in 1902 developed a severe functional four-wheel-type tractor. In 1905, the United States created the first tractor manufacturer professional associations. Ministry of Commerce of local leadership Williams decided to adopt this type of gasoline drived tractor. So far, we can still see some advertising pictures of that type.

Gougis tractor

1906 French Emir. Gougis made the first such tractors, the tractor can be launched as an independent packaging machine power unit.

Ford Tractor

Henry Ford is the son of an American farmer, even before his touring car start mass production, he had already started making tractors. In 1907, his first type of tractor adopted the design of rear wheel gathering packaging type, and its axis and the front of the control mechanism is adopted K-Ford type.

Wolseley Club 1913

In the history of the development of tractors, 1913, marked the beginning of an important historical period. Since then, the tractor changed to smaller, lighter and faster. Such as Boolean type tractors is the original of this new type of tractor, which is first made in the Minneapolis, Minnesota of American. The first type Boolean tractor called “Wolseley Club”, People also call this tractor as the non-frame (that is, removed the heavy steam engine frame) tractor. However, this tractor has some fault, its steel shell and the engine drive shaft U-shaped device to launch the back of high uplift to much.
